Crumble, Illustration by StudioCreations Crumble, Illustration by StudioCreations
Another Pen and ink drawing done for my attempt to gain back lost illustration skillz.

This drawing depicts an American Soldier doing recon work in war torn Iraq of 2004. The photo reference that I used for this drawing was taken from Kevinsites.net. Crumble.jpg was the image name.

Kevin Sites is a journalist for NBC news who keeps an online blog of his journey while covering the Iraq war and occupation. Kevin gained international attention in late 2004 when he captured an American Soldier on tape killing an unarmed insurgent. I had been reading Kevins weblog for about 9 months already when the story broke on th news and soon millions of people knew about Kevin's web site. Hopefully his stories can influence more people into realising what really goes on in wartime operations. It's not just "Cops and robbers" out there, it's life and death.

I highly recommend anyone reading this description of head over to Kevinssites.net and check it out (if it's still up and running). The website is a testament as to the power of the internet and communication in general.

I think you stopped by my spot one time, and I just clicked on your link...After that I browsed your gallery. There's always more than one way to find artwork on this website. :) And I tend to visit random people when I can, it's fun to get lost...you'll never know what you may find. ;) And you're welcome.

Silver, thanks for the feedback on my pen/ink drawing. I can't take credit for the subject framing, that was Jeff Scotts original photograph with the awesome eye for design. The good thing is that I am learning from him and others as I study/copy their work.

A professional illustrator recently told me what I am doing is not necessarily copying another artist work, but rather swiping it and using my illustration skillz to make my own original piece.

I still feel the need to credit the original artist though. :-P

I liked your gallery section. your still life flowers had very good color and composition. keep it up.

In any event, being able to draw freehand is a talent I do not possess, and while the original idea and composition was not your-own, the talent to turn that picture into a drawing is most admirable. Your work is still your work as long as after completion those due credit receive it. You have do so.

Thank you for your kind remarks on my gallery, I am still working hard to get it up to a higher standard and your input on any subject matter reference my gallery will be greatly appreciated.

I've heard about soldiers in Irag having there own blogs about what's happening in the war. I forgot what site that was.
Awesome job on the pen & ink drawing, btw.
